Students who started attending a California Community College or California State University prior to Fall 2018 should follow this GE pattern. Students will complete 39 lower division GE units and 9 upper division, interdisciplinary GE (UDIGE) courses numbered 330 - 349 or 430 - 449 ranges.
*Transfer students who completed the CSU GE or the IGETC pattern at the community college will have their GE requirements fulfilled.

LOWER DIVISION GENERAL EDUCATION (39 units)
A minimum of C- is required for each area.
- A1: Oral Communication (3 units)
 - A2: Written Communication (3 units)
 - A3: Critical Thinking (3 units)
 
At least one course in B1 or B2 must include a laboratory component.
- B1: Physical Sciences - Chemistry, Physics, Geology and Earth Sciences (3-4 units)
 - B2: Life Sciences - Biology (3-4 units)
 - B3: Mathematics - Mathematics and Applications (3-4 units) *A minimum of C- is required.
 - B4: Computers and Information Technology (3-4 units) 
 
- C1: Art (3 units)
 - C2: Literature Courses (3 units)
 - C3a: Language (3 units)
 - C3b: Multicultural (3 units)
 
- Four courses (12 units) *Three of the four must be from different disciplines.
 
- One course (3 units)
*Courses that are primarily physical activity courses (e.g. PADA 151) may satisfy no more than 1 unit of the 3 unit requirement. 
- Three courses (9 units) *These courses fall between the numbers of 330 - 349 and 430 - 449.
